Day 17 - Prep and Paint

The wall sheeting was completed first thing this morning.

Then plasterers came along to start prepping areas of the walls and ceilings.

Plasters moved out to make way for painters this afternoon, and we now have a data centre with walls and a seal coat.

Unfortunatley no pics today as someone forgot to put energiser batteries into the camera - can't wait to have the web cam up and running.

Day 16

Now it's starting to look a bit more like a Data Centre. The builders had a busy day getting the sheeting about 80% complete. Our UPS and Switch Board room is completely closed in, and the entry foyer is boxed and awaiting the return of the builders tomorrow morning. We expect all sheeting to be completed tomorrow so that walls and ceiling can be prepped for painting.

Our web cam is clicking away, we’re just waiting on the DSL so that we can install it for real-time Big Brother cam action from DC3.

Day 15 - Construction well under way

It's day 15 and the builders are well underway with the construction of the internal walls. They're a little more advanced that this photo suggests - over the next couple of days the Fyrchek sheeting goes up, and the perimeter sheeting is completed. Once that's done the whole shebang gets a coat of paint and the equipment starts to arrive.

The Fyrchek sheeting will give us a 120/120 fire rating between the electrical room and the customer equipment room.

Day 12 - webcam is snapping pictures

Day 12 and the builders are working on the internal walls again - we expect they'll be done by mid next week.

Another project meeting took place yesterday, and we're please to say that we believe the building owners will be taking the condensate water from our air conditioners, storing it, and using it to water the planned garden areas. Air conditioners produce condensate when they cool the air, and also when the humidifiers are flushed, so this will enable them to have a nice green garden even with level 5 water restrictions.

In the meantime, the web cam went in yesterday and is snapping away. Once we get connectivity back to the office we'll do a bit more with them, but for now here's a photo of Chris' head as he aligns the second camera (we have this one in the main datacentre area, and another in what will be the power UPS & switch room). Looks like we need to tweak them a bit though to remove the interlacing artifacts :-(

Day 11 - UPS's in storage

It's day 11 and the first 4 UPS's are in storage awaiting delivery and installation (the unit pictured is still screwed down to the pallet).

The initial installation will have 4 of these UPS's - two on the 'A' side, and two on the 'B' side. As the site grows, more of these units will be brought online for a total of 8 units.

Construction of the switch room, which will house the switchboards and UPS's commenced today with the framing all but complete.

The webcam went in today - we're just waiting on the DSL to be installed so we can get it online. Until that's done we'll look at bringing images back periodically on a flash drive.
